Thanks to a rich and quality farming raw material, the food processing industry highly grew in the Somme. It still is a job and richness creator sector and a promising field for the future.
Named among « 11 good opportunities to set up » by Process Alimentaire magazine at the end of 2007, the Somme already appealed numerous food-processing industries, among which :
BONDUELLE, ROQUETTE FRERES, LUNOR, NESTLE, AJINOMOTO FOODS EUROPE, TEREOS, SAINT-LOUIS-SUCRE, PASQUIER and many others.
From breakfast to dinner, the county gathers around fifty food-processing industries of more than 20 employees, and a hundred of companies with less than 20 employees. The field altogether represents almost 6,500 jobs, i.e. 13% of total industrial jobs.
Among the sectors the most represented on the county, we have :
- alimentary canned goods : Bonduelle, Papillotte, Conserveries St Christophe, Canards du Val de Luce...
